Day Thirty-Two – Alice Springs – New Year’s Day

The last thing I did in 2014 was get pissed and the first thing I did in 2015 was he pissed. This is a sad truth for many people across the world.

I woke up with a pretty banging headache so headed to the pool with Ed, Angie and Josh. A little tradition of ours family’s is a New Year’s Day swim so it felt right to continue it. I spent the morning repenting from the night before and soothing the headache with the water.

After a hungry jacks we all took a New Years nap before heading out for dinner for my last night in Alice Springs and my last night in Australia. We went Tempo a tapas bar in the casino. It was pretty good and showed me that there are nice places to eat and Alice isn’t all as bad as Ed and Angie make it out to be.

Although we were all exhausted, it was my last night so we decided to played cards against humanity As there were so few of us we picked a random card to put in the mix named as ‘Bailey’s’ and in ashamed to say she nearly beat me. Clearly the lack of sleep meant I was not on form.

I slept well: happy, sleepy and with a full stomach.
A good start to 2015.

Day Twenty-Two – Melbourne to Ocean Grove, Bellarine – Pizzas Against Humanity

Ed and Angie had to go pick up Chris’ car today so the rest of us left our luggage for them to pick up and piled into the rental car to head to Costco and pick up our Christmas food shopping. We only had an hour here so we managed ti speed shop.  However, the bill for 7 people’s food came to over $700 which was a bit extortionate so I probably wouldn’t advise speed shopping in the future.

We drove down to Ocean Grove on the Bellarine Peninsular which is kind of like a holiday destination for Melbournians as it is only about an hour/two hour drive from Melbourne.  Ed and Angie’s car was not as they imagined it would be when they picked it up so didn’t leave Melbourne for a while and struggled their way over to Ocean Grove.

Because we arrived so late in Ocean Grove we had to quickly cool some drinks, put out chips and dips and prepare some pizza toppings in preparation for Flo, Andy, Ben, Louise, Bruce, Coralie, Joanna and the kids to come over.  We managed to make some pretty delicious pizzas in the pizza oven.

After we got a bit inebriated, Flo, Andy, Louise, Bruce and Coralie went home with the kids and Ben and Joanna stayed back to play a few games.  We got into playing Cards Against Humanity which was damn funny and a weird experience playing with close family members.  It was a good night but we had to get to bed to wake up for the wine tour in the morning.
