Day Nine – Cairns – Relaxing Day

Woke up to an empty room which made me feel sad. T, Tom and Ryan headed off into the rainforest for a night. I’m a bit gutted I didn’t book the same trip as them. I knew they were going but I felt like it was too soon so I booked mine for tomorrow.

I took a long time getting myself together enjoying having a room to myself. Then headed down to the lagoon where I met Krystale for a dip in the pool. We then met up with three Welsh guys she knew from the Whitsunday’s and decided to go to a free pool bar. One of the guys was from Slough so we had a lot to talk about. It was nice to do something a little different and play a few games of pool. After this I went to go buy some goon and some food for dinner.

I was a bit nervous about this night out cause it was a lot of different people who didn’t know each other and the main guys weren’t there. But it was actually a lot of fun! It’s so nice to have met fun girls cause most of the girls I’ve met have been very self aware and a little uptight. It was just a nice chilled day with good people.

Day Eight – Cairns – Rafting and Grafting

Today was quality. I had booked myself into the Raging Thunder white water rafting trip with the boys. It was good cause Owain and Paddy had gone to Mission Beach and came up from there and Tom, T and I came from Cairns. Unfortunately I couldn’t get in a boat with them cause there were only six to a boat but it was better that way cause I got to go in a boat with a girl called Megan from England. Finally I was making girlfriends. We had such a good time. The rapids were pretty low and if wasn’t too hard but it was fun and just nice to go swimming in the rivers in the rainforest. My boat consisted of me, Megan, Janika, Bob, Sven and Janice, who was hysterical. We all had a good laugh. I wasn’t a huge fan of bob, he was about forty and really creepy. We couldn’t get back on the boats so the guys had to pull us in an everytime he would put his hands on my bum. I was not amused and actually had to tell him off.

After the rafting we had a few beers in the pub which Bob bought so I forgave him a little. The other rafting trip joined us too and Megan’s friends Josh and Tom came over for a drink. I’m starting to see a pattern with the people I chat to, they’re all English. It’s such bad form and after all the time I’ve spent bagging out England it seem ironic. But it’s just easier and the English like to drink so we all get along.

After a long bus journey back I cooked myself dinner and got myself ready to go out. But I felt so tired I was sure I wouldn’t be going out but the boys twisted my arm (not that hard) and I got back on the goon for another night.

Megan came over to drink with us and brought Krystale, Liv, Bill, Gerrard and Deano with her. It was so nice to have some girls to go out with and just girls who want to have fun and don’t care. We went straight out to Woolshed which was nice because Gilligan’s is getting a little old. We got suitably pissed and danced on the tables which I fell off having the bruises to show for it.

I’m really glad I met these guys and hearing someone tell you their glad they met you is the best feeling in the world. Everyone wants to be liked but to feel like you might have made touched someone made them happy happy and made them feel good, that’s the ultimate goal.

Day Five – Cairns – A Lazy Day in Cairns

Today was a pretty lazy day. I woke up late actually not suffering from a hangover at all. I headed into town to buy myself a SIM card so I could get internet everywhere and call people. I also did a food shop and looked around the shops for some Christmas shopping.

After I’d set everything up I came back to the ‘Goon Room’ and chatted to Rob and Owain for a bit before heading down to the pool with them. Cheri, Tash and Jack came and joined us for a bit before it started to get cold and I had to go back up.

I showered and got myself ready before going to make dinner with my food I bought earlier. However when I went to the fridge to get the food the cleaners had thrown it out as I had forgotten to label it. Not only was I annoyed because it was a waste of money, I was also starving. So Rob and I went to go get a burrito from down the road which was pretty good.

By now it was time to get ready and start the’Goon Room’ ritual yet again. And so the night went from there. I feel so lucky that I have such a good group of people who actually want to go out and have a good time because I’ve met some really quiet people here. I’m starting to feel like it’s home here and these are my friends and I couldn’t ask for anything more.
